Suet Pudding, page 127

One cup of molasses, 1 cup of suet, 1 cup of sour milk, 2 cups of flour, 2 cups of raisins, 1 cup of citron, 1 teaspoonful of soda, 1 teaspoonful of cinnamon; 1 of cloves. Boil in an earthen crock set in a kettle of boiling water, cook three hours. Sauce: One teacup of butter, 1 q/2 of sugar, 1/2 teacup of sweet milk, 1 table-spoonful of flour, yolk of 1 egg well beaten, a pinch of salt. Stir all together and pour over it 1 teacup of boiling water. Let all come to a boil.


Ginger Cookies, 199

Two cups of molasses, 1 cup of lard, 1 cup of sugar, 2/3 cup of sour milk, 1 table-spoonful ginger, 3 teaspoonful of soda, part stirred in the flour, and milk, 2 eggs.
