Ice Water Sponge Cake, page 163

One and one half cups of sugar, 1 and a half cups of flour, 3 eggs, half cup of ice water, and 1 1/2 teaspoonfuls of baking powder; beat yolks and sugar with 1 table-spoonful of water thoroughly.


Cookies, page 194

One egg, 2 cups of sugar, 1 cup of lard, 1 teaspoonful of soda in a cup of sour milk, a little salt; flavor and flour enough to roll.
